Recommended Locations
I'm pleased to suggest a range of premium locations to my family session clients. Of course, we are not limited to these options! I'm happy to discuss other ideas you have for locations, including your own private land and locations south of the border. Please contact me at 604-781-6477 to discuss your needs today.
These are just a few of the possibilities I have up my sleeve, tried and true locations that I adore as settings for my clients.
Stewart Farm, South Surrey
Public Bathrooms: Yes
Wheelchair Accessibility: Limited
Rain Cover: Yes
Pet Friendly: Leashed
Parking: Free parking lot
Stewart Farm is consistently my top choice for family sessions year-round: it offers amazing scenery and picturesque backgrounds. In addition to the farmhouse and picket fences are porches, walking trails, meadows, forests, a heritage apple orchard and a waterfront along the Nicomekl River. Due to the covered options available at Stewart, this site can be used year-round and rain or shine (restrictions apply).
Stewart Farm also has an amazing number of fun events throughout the year. Please see https://www.surrey.ca/culture-recreation/2875.aspx for more information on their events and on these beautiful grounds!
13723 Crescent Road, South Surrey
Brittania Shipyards, Richmond
Public Bathrooms: Yes
Wheelchair Accessibility: Yes
Rain Cover: Limited
Pet Friendly: Leashed
Parking: Free parking lot
After Stewart Farm, Brittania Shipyards is one of my favourite locations for beautiful scenery. A former shipyard turned into a heritage site, the property has been lovingly restored into a beautiful environment. Perched on the Fraser River with some views of the water, Brittania offers a wonderful marine feel with boardwalks and distressed wood buildings. There are limited options for coverage in the event of rain.
Brittania Shipyards is home to some amazing events during the year, including the not-to-be-missed Richmond Maritime Festival. Please see https://britanniashipyard.ca for more information!

Deas Island is a lovely regional park tucked on Deas Island along the banks of the Fraser River. Perfect for more rustic, natural backgrounds, the park offers lovely footpaths through forests, a variety of fences, foot bridges and a few heritage buildings scattered around the park. It's also a lovely place to set up a picnic and enjoy a day in the park!
Note: due to the size of the park and the distance between some of the footpaths and the bathrooms, parts of this park may be difficult for those needing wheelchair accessibility.
Please see http://www.metrovancouver.org/services/parks/parks-greenways-reserves/deas-island-regional-park for more information on this gorgeous park.
6090 Deas Island Rd, Delta
Ladner Harbour Park, Ladner
Public Bathrooms: No
Wheelchair Accessibility: Limited
Rain Cover: No
Pet Friendly: Unleashed
Parking: Free parking lot
Ladner Harbour Park is a hidden gem tucked close to downtown Ladner and offering views of the adorable Ladner waterfront. This park offers two distinct backgrounds - among footpaths or in front of the water - and has the amazing advantage of being a dog-friendly park that allows unleashed critters!
Note: due to the proximity to fairly stagnant water, the park is not recommended in late summer unless you have a particular love for mosquitos.

4905 Mcneelys Way, Delta
Paulik Park, Richmond
Public Bathrooms: No
Wheelchair Accessibility: No
Rain Cover: No
Pet Friendly: Not certain
Parking: Free street parking
****Note: These images are from a few years back and are not representative of my current photography style. Due to privacy issues, I am unable to include more recent images from Paulik in my current gallery.
Of every location I visit, Paulik is truly the most off-the-beaten path. A local Richmond neighbourhood park tucked near a shopping centre, it's one of those places you'd never find unless someone introduces you to it. I was honoured to have one of my clients mention it a few years back.
This is a 6-acre park maintained by Richmond Garden Club volunteers. It's heavily shaded and full of flowers and foliage of every type. If you're looking for a green background full of nature, Paulik may very well be it!

The beautiful Centennial Beach - every family's dream!
I'm happy to offer sessions taking advantage of our amazing marine waterfront at Centennial Beach. Sessions generally take occur near the north end of the gravel parking lot, taking into account the blackberry brambles, meadows, footpaths and fences in addition to exploring the meadows right along the beach.
Interested in a session taking advantage of the water? Given the park's east-west direction (and our late sunsets in early summer!), sessions directly on the beach are held the hour before sunset - starting at 8:30 PM in early summer, and starting at 6:30-7 PM in late summer.
For more information on Centennial Beach, please visit http://www.metrovancouver.org/services/parks/parks-greenways-reserves/boundary-bay-regional-park.

Two amazing urban beaches offering beaches, peek-a-boo city views, the mountains and greenery! The majority of my urban beach sessions are at Jericho to take advantage of the neighbouring park as well.

Blackie Spit, South Surrey

One of my favourite natural places for family portraits, Blackie Spit is nestled up against beautiful Crescent Beaches and offers amazing scrubby brush, meadows and gorgeous wood fences. Blackie is truly the perfect location for pre-sunset family portraits, and can be combined with a few beach images at Crescent as the sun dips towards the horizon.
Please visit https://www.surrey.ca/culture-recreation/2201.aspx for more information on Blackie Spit!
3136 McBride Ave, Surrey
Iona Beach, Richmond

Pet Friendly: Leashed
Parking: Free parking lot
Iona Beach is nestled on the far end of Sea Island, near where the YVR runway ends and perched against the Strait of Georgia. It's a wonderful park full of beached logs, scrubby bushes and meandering footpaths, with stunning views of the sea and land.
Due to the lack of shade at Iona Beach, sessions are generally held in the hour before sunset.
Please visit http://www.metrovancouver.org/services/parks/parks-greenways-reserves/iona-beach-regional-park for more information on Iona Beach!
