My Commitment to You
Before the Session
I recommend booking your session as soon as you are ready to go ahead with it. My calendar opens 12 months in advance and routinely books up at least 3-4 months in advance. Once it is booked, I am unable to take on additional clients for that time frame. This applies to new bookings as well as to those who have contacted me interested in sessions but who have not secured them on my calendar.
In order to hold your appointment space, I require a signed copy of my general contract (the booking proposal) and a paid 25% non-refundable retainer. Once I have received both of these items, your session will be secured on my calendar.
The remainder of the session fee is due 2 weeks after booking. No session will occur without payment in full prior to the start of the session. If you are doing a family, newborn, cake smash or maternity session, I will be sending along additional documentation to you on how to prepare for the session the week of the session.
If your session is in-studio and includes a choice of backdrops and sets, please take a look through my Backdrops Gallery. I offer a pretty extensive range of backdrops for my clients in various sizes, including a handful that can accommodate families. All backdrop names are in the photo comments. If you have additional ideas and requests, please let me know!
During the Session
-My goal is to capture the authentic you. For clothing, wear clothes that reflect your normal style. Bold or muted colours can work well, particularly if complementary. If possible, avoid logos, text and contrasting patterns. Feel free to bring along a change of clothes, if necessary, and be sensitive to the weather in our ever-changing climate. I have a full style guide I provide to all family session clients after booking.
-Outdoor Sessions: Pay attention to the weather. Generally speaking, I am happy to run outdoor sessions in sun, fog, snow, clouds or a light drizzle. As the session approaches and the forecast is showing heavier rains and downpours, I will contact you to discuss a back-up day or location.
-Indoor Sessions: Please note that all in-studio sessions use professional strobe lighting. The in-studio images included throughout my portfolio on this website are all shot using the same lighting.
-If you have any requests, please speak up! I will do my best to capture everyone as I see fit, but there are times when I might not get a grouping exactly to the client's liking...especially with larger groups. If you notice this, please let me know. My goal is to ensure my photographs exceed your expectations, and part of this is ensuring I capture all of the images you want during the session.
After the Session
-After the session, I often post a few teasers on my site: photos that capture my heart during the initial upload. I usually will do so within 2-3 days of the session.
-Once I have fully edited your gallery, I will place it online in a private gallery within 3-4 weeks of the session. The watermarked images I upload will be in both colour and black & white. From this gallery, you will be able to select your preferred images for purchasing as prints or digitals. The watermarks will be removed on all purchased digital images.
At that point, the photos are yours for downloading, printing and treasuring. And of course, I am always available should you have any questions or need further assistance.
